The body composition of an adult man or woman reflects the lifestyle and behaviours across the lifespan. Aberrant changes in body composition relate to health risk and treatment outcome. Population surveys that audit change in body composition based on an index of body mass normalized to stature, i.e. BMI, but BMI is but a ‘rough guide’ of body composition. This project will pursue an innovative approach to the analysis of the human body composition that has translational relevance to disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment across the lifespan and personalized health care.
